IN FOCUS: Disrupting identity and document fraud

The fight against identity fraud is a constant battle between the authorities and the fraudsters. But, in today’s uncertain world, the stakes have never been higher. At one end of the scale, citizens face economic loss and disruption, with governments facing risks to national security at the other. The focus of this practical session is to identify effective ways to unearth and disrupt identity fraud networks, and to consider ways to combat fraud in action.

Biography
Alan Gooden has worked as a Detective Superintendent in the National Coordinators Office of the City of London Police since the beginning of 2016, and reports directly to Commander David Clark. The main focus of Alan’s role is to improve the policing response to fraud and its victims, and coordinate National Policing Portfolios (including Identity Crime), held by Commander Clark on behalf of national policing.
Alan has 30 years policing experience, across a wide variety of detective and uniform roles. He started his career in Essex Police, where he served for nearly 25 years, moving to the Home Office in 2012 to lead on national policy and strategy in relation to Identity Crime.
