Project in Focus: Grand Designs

Grand Designs session sees the world’s foremost secure ID projects presented from concept to delivery, giving a real insight into what factors are needed to achieve success.

The Emerging eID Landscape

New technologies are enabling eIDs to play a greater role in the digital citizen experience. From national eIDs, to those being issued at a more local level (such as smart city implementations) multiple applications are now increasingly on offer, including a raft of government services and applications, such as payment, transportation and voting. Alongside these application developments this track also considers the emergence of alternative identity scheme architectures using technologies, such as blockchains.

Calum has worked in the Identity Management market for more than twenty years. Starting out with biometrics; moving sideways into smart cards and security print; then forwards into ePassport technologies and PKI; and latterly, broadening into complex integrated systems for identity registration, token issuance and validation solutions such as border control.
Today he focuses mostly on digital identity as a Solutions Architect with Nexus Group, with an emphasis on the software solutions that can create better use of eID tokens such as ePassports, cards and mobile phones. Current product interests and market development projects include the use of ID Management software to deliver better value by converging digital and physical ID requirements into a common platform.
